Muddy Banks
03:32
|

Out of the window is a field growing corn
The farmer’s daughter brings food for everyone
She feels mosquitoes biting at her toes
So she hurries, she hurries on home
And later that evening there’s a grand old feast
With neighbors and strangers who come from the east
They’re quick to eat and give their thanks
To the farmer and his daughter on these old muddy banks…
To the wind, and the water on these old muddy banks…

Midsummer Night
04:55

She’s living north of Boston in a beat-up old town
She doesn’t want to leave it, she just won’t see what’s around
‘Cause when that sly, roaming evil come seek her
You know something evil is abound
She’s gotta rest her soul all day
Cause all night she’s gonna dance around
Midsummer’s Night
Even by the fire light
The moon shadows on the ground
Another kettle’s boiling – all the shutters are down
Later in the evening she’s gonna dance to the sound of the hound
‘Cause when that sly, roaming evil come meet her
You know something evil is abound
She’s the greatest of the creatures
And nothing’s gonna take her crown
Midsummer’s Night
Even by the fire light
The moon shadows on the ground
Caught in the crowd, won’t get away with it
The town is ablaze, she’s getting blamed for it
Slipping deeper, she’s getting lost in it
Slipping deeper…
She’s got the gallows waiting – you bet the town’s gonna gather around
When they listen to her breathing, they’ll hear the devil growling out loud
But when that sly, roaming evil come free her
You know something evil is abound
Her garden is filled with whispers
Midsummer’s Night, that’s all that they found
Midsummer’s Night
Even by the fire light
The moon shadows on the ground

The Bay of Biscay
02:47
|
|||
She's carved out of stone and been around four hundred years
With a thousand little nooks put there by many bombardiers
Listen to her lines as they tell you what they hear
Listen, and she will come to you
By way of force or weathered ears it’s hard enough to hear
Her wisdom flows like water to the naval engineer
Listen to her lines as they tell you what they hear
Listen, and she will come to you
Enlarged is the fool who’s fooled and taken by the jeer
On winter's fallen snow that's been around most of the year
Listen to her lines as they tell you what they hear
Listen, and she will come to you
The wicked wind will steal her still on this winter's morning
The truth is that this battered ship will welcome winter's warning
The waves are rough, her sail has torn, her men are doomed
Lost in the Bay of Biscay
The sky did swell; the ocean rose, and tore apart the schooner
The rain fell hard and all her men tried desperately to save her
Their cries for help will go unheard, her men are doomed
Lost in the Bay of Biscay
Listen to her lines as they tell you what they hear
Listen, and she will come to you

Around Again
03:50
|
|||
Sitting at home in the summer heat
I search for something on T.V.
And when I get ‘round again,
I find that there’s nothing for me
Lately, it seems I’ve been stalled at work
Lost my focus for whatever it’s worth
No more is it first
And it’s getting worse
Can’t I see that all I need
Is something to take, take from me
These silent nights and the summer heat
Wasting away never felt good to me
Can’t sit still or relax with some tea
Drink a cup for me
I need your better energy
Sorry to complicate your week
You’re the one my attention seeks
Cause you know that you can
Awake me from my sleep
Can’t I see that all I need
Is something to take, take from me
These silent nights and the summer heat
I don’t like being paralyzed
Mesmerized, more or less alive
So when I struggle this way
I need you to be my light
Still sitting at home in the summer heat
Searching for something on T.V.
And when I get ‘round again
I still find nothing for me
And when I get ‘round again
I find there’s nothing for me
Can’t I see that all I need
Is something to take, take from me
These silent nights and the summer heat

Long Way From Home
02:35
|
|||
I’m a long way from home
But the road that goes back is gone
I long for that journey home
For the dusty road and the cobblestone
I’m a long way from home
Now I stand all alone
In a land I won’t call my own
So long, don’t say bye my son
When the walls come down and the guns are gone
I’ll bring you back to your home
I’m a long way from home
But the road that goes back is gone
I long, for that journey home
But the gate is locked, and the fabric torn
I’m a long way from home

Move
03:35
|
|||
You cannot be limited by your new restraint
Even as the days turn black and faint
I’m afraid for you
And it’s overdue
Distant sounds sound like a new battle cry
Why can’t The Man back out his plans and say goodbye
I’m afraid he’s proud
Shopping for your shroud
He wants you to move
Take to the streets, speak up, and make yourself heard
Make ‘em hear each and every word
But I’m afraid he’s deaf
To your bereft
‘Cause he wants you to move
He wants you to...
...have no voice, stand silently still
...have no choice, give away all your will
...have no hope and get sicker until
no fight’s in you, no life’s in you. So don’t move!
Make it loud and louder than the time before
Even if he keeps on keeping up his war
I’m afraid he’ll force
A bitter divorce
He wants you to move
He wants you to...
...have no voice, stand silently still
...have no choice, give away all your will
...have no hope and get sicker until
no fight’s in you, no life’s in you. So don’t move!

Hazy Days
05:41
|
|||
Summertime’s not coming around – anymore
I’m stuck in winter’s longest storm
Lately I can’t seem to get up – anymore
My cover’s tight to keep me warm
So shake your branches winter’s tree – down on me
I want the snow falling from your vine
Days are shorter and sinking deep – down on me
Constricting every little contour line
Hazy days, are here again -- Misery loves company my friend
Hazy days, are here again -- So I call you on the phone to complain
I lost my way and now I am here – in this time
My mistakes have me in a bind
Now I’m awake instead of asleep – one more time
Trouble’s always got a place in my mind
Hazy days, are here again -- Misery loves company my friend
Hazy days, are here again -- So I call you on the phone to complain
I want summer to come back around – one more time
Then I’ll be happy and doing fine
Hazy days, are here again – Misery loves company my friend
Hazy days, are here again – So I call you on the phone to complain
Hazy days, are here again – Sleepless nights I can’t sustain, my friend
Hazy days, I can’t sustain – Getting lost in all the loneliness and pain

Ordinary Man
04:06
|
|||
Spring, summer, fall,
And winter’s lonely crawl
Through time…
Day, evening, night
I sit alone beneath the light
With dusk and dawn…
… where I belong
I'm just an ordinary man
In a mixed up land…
You and me, we
Together we can be
Harmony, perfectly
In unity…
I'm just an ordinary man
In a mixed up land
You're the extraordinary one
Who took my hand
And brought me out to sea
I knew, you were meant for me
Some don't belong
Some paths are wrong
Dust will settle when the day goes long
We’re growing old
We're not alone anymore
Some don't belong
Some paths are wrong
Dust will settle when the day goes long
We’re growing old
We're not alone...
Clay, water, air,
And burning fire is everywhere
So we turn, to dust, where we belong
I'm just an ordinary man
In a mixed up land
You're the extraordinary one
Who took my hand
And brought me out to sea
I knew, you were meant for me
I'm just an ordinary man
In a mixed up land
You're the extraordinary one
Who took my hand
And opened my eyes to see
My love, you were meant for me

Numb
05:23
|
|||
I’ve got anger and frustration
I feel frozen, no sensation
I don’t want it, need to wake up
I don’t see it, got my hang-ups
I can’t take it any longer
I’m as numb as can be, can’t feel anymore
I’m as numb as can be, can’t take it no more
I feel sorry and deflated
I am useless and I hate it
I can’t fake it any longer
I’m as numb as can be, can’t feel anymore
I’m as numb as can be, can’t take it no more
Can you tell me why?
Can you help me fix the wrongs?
I don’t know what’s going on!
I’m as numb as can be, can’t feel anymore
I’m as numb as can be, can’t take it no more
No excuses, I’m a mess, love
I was ruthless, made my mind up
I don’t want it any longer
Can you tell me why?
Can you help me fix the wrongs?
I don’t know what’s going on!
I’m as numb as can be, can’t feel anymore

21 Hundred Miles
03:32
|
|||
Bill was ambling ‘round his New Hampshire home
When he came upon a trail he thought he’d like to roam
It turns out that this trail is the world’s longest path
The Appalachian Trail is for the psychopath
It stretches out from Georgia to Mount Katahdin Maine
Twenty-one hundred miles this was no game
Twenty-one, Twenty-one hundred miles long
Twenty-one, Twenty-one hundred miles long
Bill looked for a partner he thought could tag along
‘Cause damn this AT trail was impossibly long
He searched through social media most of the night
‘till he found a girl named Katz who appeared alright
So when they finally met up to begin their load
They drove up Katahdin outside Roaring Brook Road
Twenty-one, Twenty-one hundred miles long
Twenty-one, Twenty-one hundred miles long
It started going well as they made their descent
They got to know each other by sharing a tent
But then the trail gave away to cliffs and climbs
With clouds of blackflies making harder times
They grabbed they pulled at roots and slid down ravines
Mahoosuc Notch was murder on their broken knees
Twenty-one, Twenty-one hundred miles long
Twenty-one, Twenty-one hundred miles long
With Shelter Brook in sight they were feeling okay
Though more grueling weeks were standing in their way
The White Mountains looming two days around the bend
Rockslides, slippery slopes, it’s the top of the end
Katz was feeling good about their journey so far
Bill was longing to play on his acoustic guitar
Twenty-one, Twenty-one hundred miles long
Twenty-one, Twenty-one hundred miles long
They dragged their dirty bodies to the trail at Bill’s home
Where they took a break a breather to rest their bones
They thought they’d spend a night with a pillow on bed
With a shower and hot meal to prove they weren’t dead
But that one night turned days, weeks, months, and years
Soon they married to explore new frontiers
Twenty-one, Twenty-one hundred miles long
Twenty-one, Twenty-one hundred miles long
